The SOM conference at Asilomar does not follow
the typical abstract
submission, acceptance, and conference registration format. Conference
registration is required before you may submit an abstract. Once you
have registered, abstracts may be submitted by using your registration
code. Most presentations will be included in the poster sessions, and a
few select authors submitting abstracts may be contacted to see if
they'd be willing to give an oral presentation. More than one abstract
per senior author is permitted but not strongly encouraged. Those
invited to make oral presentations are encouraged to also participate
in a more data-intensive poster.
In the event that an abstract is not accepted, you will be
notified within two weeks and your conference fee refunded.
To make changes to your abstract, you must re-submit all information. The original submission will be deleted.
Although there is no formal deadline for abtract submission, on June 1, 2005 we will begin organizing posters into session themes, choosing dates for the themes, and contacting up to 8 authors about possible oral presentations. Thus abstracts received after June 1 run a strong risk of being assigned to a miscellaneous late submission category rather than being assigned to to a relevant topical theme. Abstracts received after August 15 will probably not be included in the written abstract book to be handed out at the conference, though they will be available via our website. Lastly, although the space available at Asilomar for posters is large, it is not infinite. We cannot guarantee that authors submitting abstracts after Sept. 12 will find space available for their posters.
Please limit your abstract to 400 words. Do not re-enter title and authors as part of the abstract text.
