General Information
- Asilomar reservations must be made as part of the conference registration process. Purchase orders and telephone reservations will not be accepted.
- There is a $25 fee for cancellations 60 days prior to arrival date. Cancellations after that forfeit all housing payments, but there is no additional fee.
- All rates are for full time conference participation. There is no discount for shorter stays.
- Housing rates are per person and include lodging, meals, meeting space rental, and all applicable taxes. Meals begin with dinner on the first day and end with lunch on the last day.
- To preserve the refuge atmosphere at Asilomar, Guest rooms are free from the distraction of televisions and telephones.
- There is a business center located next to the front desk.
- All Guest rooms and meeting rooms are non-smoking.

A limited number of awards will be made to cover conference fees and costs of lodging and meals at Asilomar. Anyone who checks the student rate box in the Conference registration form and submits an abstract may be considered for these awards. To apply, please also send a copy of your student ID card by e-mail to Chris Swanston (swanston1@llnl.gov), who will be in charge of making the final selections. At least three such awards will be made, with more possible depending on the total number of registrants. One additional award will go to the student judged as having prepared and presented the best poster, the winner to be announced at the Wednesday evening Conference Banquet.

Sunday Fieldtrips Leaving from NASA Ames
Big Basin Trip
Big Basin Redwoods State Park is California's oldest state park, and includes the largest expanse of old-growth redwood forest south of San Francisco. Explore this ancient redwood forest, which contains among the highest above and below ground stocks of carbon in the world! Includes hiking, exploring and discussing redwood ecology and soil carbon dynamics. Busses will leave Mountain View at 0800 h and arrive at Asilomar at approximately 1700 h. ($35)
Wine Country TripVisit the beautiful Santa Cruz wine region, nestled within the California redwoods and home of some of the best California wines. We will visit both large scale/high tech and small boutique wineries for wine tasting and tours. Tours will include information on soils, climate, wine production, and techniques. We will eat lunch at one of the wineries. The bus will leave Mountain View at 0800 h and arrive at Asilomar at approximately 1800 h. ($30/person)
