What is ArcGIS ?

ArcGIS is a family of software products that form a complete Geographic Information System. ArcGIS is a complete, single, integrated system for geographic data creation, management, integration, and analysis. ESRI ArcWorkstation consists of ArcInfo. ArcDesktop is made up of several modules, depending on how the install was performed on the machine: ArcCatalog, ArcMap, ArcToolbox, ArcScene, ArcReader, and ArcObjects Developer Help. The three primary modules that are used are ArcCatalog, ArcMap, and ArcToolbox.
