Computing Lab Policies

  • All users of the classrooms/labs are expected to be responsible and thoughtful when it comes to food and drink usage.

Cleaning up after yourself is greatly appreciated by the next person that uses the computer. If you need assistance cleaning up any spill, please contact the Forestry Computing Helpdesk.

  • The lab is open to anyone with a FORESTRY account or an ONID ID.

  • Please do NOT violate copyright laws! Violation of software license agreements are subject to regulations pertaining to theft or misuse of University property and may be subject to other public or private action. We all get in trouble if we violate copyright laws.

  • Please keep in mind, the labs are a relatively "NOISE FREE ZONE" and others are trying to work.

  • When you are finished using the lab, make sure to LOG OFF the computer to minimize security risk. It is not necessary to turn off the computer you are using once you are finished.

  • Computers left unattended for more than 20 minutes will be assumed to be free.

  • The labs may NOT be used for personal work such as job-related activities. However, the labs may be used for resumes and letters of application, as a lowest priority.

  • Playing computer games on ANY machine at ANY time is NOT PERMITTED.

  • Please help to monitor the lab. It belongs to all of us.

  • Monthly Lab schedules are posted at the entrance of each lab. When a class is in session, only registered students in that class are permitted to use the computers in the room.

  • Files created by students should be saved to their ONID network space (recommended) or USB flash drive (recommended). Any personal files/directories found on any machine's hard disk will be erased on any restart, shutdown, or power failure!
