How do I use the OSU_Access or OSU_Secure wireless network in Forestry? The information in this article applies to:
In order to use the OSU wireless network you will need the following
1) A computer with a wireless network card You can access the OSU network via OSU_Access - easier to setup but not secure so best practices suggest not accessing any password protected resources - or via OSU_Secure - which involves a bit more effort to setup but access is secure and provides full access to all campus resources. If you are unable to setup OSU_Secure, the Computing Helpdesk in Peavy can help you setup equivalent access via the wireless network you'll see called Forestry. The exact steps to connect to OSU_Secure will depend upon your operating system, and type of network card. Full instructions can be found by following the How to setup... link for your operating system here: http://oregonstate.edu/net/wireless/wpa/
SSID (Network Name): OSU_Access Once you have established a connection to OSU_Access or OSU_Secure and open a browser window (e.g., IE or Firefox), if your computer is not registered you will be asked to use your ONID username and password to temporarily register this device for 24 hours, or click on the Register Permenantly link. The Register Permenantly link should bring you to maintain.oregonstate.edu and ask you for your ONID username and password.
Once the computer has been registered simply wait ~15min and you should be good to go. |
