B.S. Meteorology, Penn State University, 2005
M.S. Atmospheric Science, Oregon State University, 2007

Research Interests :

Andrea completed her Master's degree in Atmospheric Sciences at OSU under the guidance of Dr. Jim Coakley. Her research focused on estimating regional cloud cover using MODIS-derived satellite data, and examining the accuracy of these cloud cover estimates through an analysis of various cloud property relationships.

She is currently working with the Terra PNW group on various projects, including an AmeriFlux synthesis regarding the effects of land cover change on net radiation. As world population increases, more and more forests are bulldozed to make room for city exansion and additional croplands. These changes in land cover can drastically alter the surface energy budget of the region and need to be incorporated into climate models to accurately assess how our climate is changing.
