Research Interests :

My current research interests are with the instrumentation used to make eddy-flux measurements. In our lab, we are currently working on a comparison of 3-D sonic anemometers. There is a range of sonic anemometer's currently being used for eddy-flux measurements. Understanding the errors involved in these measurements can better help us measure, model, and compare carbon and water dynamics from site to site.

I am also interested in the environmental controls on the isotopic signature of plant and ecosystem respiration. Recently, a correlation between vapor pressure deficit and the d13C has been found (Bowling, 2001). However, subsequent studies have failed to find this same correlation. New technologies that allow high-frequency, long term measurements of stable carbon isotopes may help us answer this question.

Personal Interests:

In the summer I enjoy hiking, camping, and rock climbing. I try to snowboard as often as possible in the winter (although this is never enough) to keep away the rainy-depression's run rampant in this region. In between I read quite a lot and try to maintain our new garden (although I really have no idea what I am doing). But currently, my time is mainly consumed with trying to figure out how to raise two beautiful little girls.
